Tap to pay and tap on glass refer to the methods consumers use to pay by tapping a card or phone on a receiver. Tap to pay works by tapping a debit, credit or smart card on a point-of-sale terminal with contactless payment technology, while tap on glass enables the user to pay by tapping a card or smartphone onto a glass-based capture mechanism, such as an Android smartphone or tablet that has been converted into a card-accepting device via software applications.
