What we are looking for

A Cost Accountant eager to join a highly disruptive start-up in a rapid growth phase and positioned to scale significantly in the coming months.

About the Role

  • Define, collate, and organise various product and operational cost information into a database

  • Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organisation.

  • Implement and manage the system for cost calculations, monitoring and forecasting

  • Implementing cost standards/rate cards for product and labour costs

  • Determine and calculate formulas for fixed and variable costs for the product and operational costs

  • Plan budgets and prepare forecasts and reports for multiple departments within the organisation

  • Analyse reports and actual costs to identify and recommend cost-effective improvements and potential cost savings.

  • Analyse any changes in services provided to determine their effect on the cost.

  • Analyse costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.

  • Make estimates of new and proposed product costs.

  • Provide management with reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of services.

  • Assist in audits and general ledger preparation.

  • Prepare and complete internal cost audits.

  • Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements.


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field (essential).

  • Five years of Cost Accounting work experience.

  • Sound understanding of accounting principles.

  • Solid cost systems background and experience with various cost models/principles

  • Financial services and payments industry knowledge and experience

  • Prior work experience in an international organisation operating in different countries/markets will be an advantage  

  • Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills

  • A team player with a flexible approach.

  • An ownership mentality- don’t just execute what’s asked of you, but question whether we’ve asked you the right question or it could be done better.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • A growth mindset – the ability to adapt and embrace challenges as opportunities for growth.

  • Ability to work at a high pace and pivot.
