What we are looking for

A Communication Specialist eager to join a highly disruptive start-up in a rapid growth phase and positioned to scale significantly in the coming months.

About the Role

  • Create, drive and manage the communication strategy for Ukheshe.

  • Promote and protect Ukheshe’s Brand via internal and external communication strategies.

  • Write press releases, blogs, media responses and briefing documents in partnership with PR agencies.

  • Managing PR centered events and inquiries, including press conferences, interviews, award submissions. 

  • Work closely with the wider Marketing team to ensure our messaging is accurate and up to date. 

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (such as company spokespeople, the business development team and Human Resources) across the business to ensure we are leveraging key subject matter experts across our organisation and that all information is communicated clearly and accurately to investors, media, internal staff and other external stakeholders.

  • Create material to support industry events where key spokespeople are active (Executive Team/Founders). 

  • Fully understand the dynamics of each key spokesperson and seek opportunities to promote thought leadership across media and social media channels in partnership with PR agencies.

  • Keep abreast of current affairs across regions and within our industry to ensure Ukheshe is positioned as a thought leader. 

  • Develop strong, collaborative working relationships with colleagues, project partners and external agencies.

  • Create compelling editorial content and marketing copy: writing, editing and commissioning online content, case studies, news and announcements. 

  • Support Ukheshe’s brand exposure and marketing including our presence at external events and conferences, working with external parties.

  • Work closely with Product Managers and our Marketing Team to write copy and develop engaging content around the launch of various products. 

  • Provide input into the direction of the brand’s content strategy.

  • Crisis Management

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • 5-8 years relevant experience.

  • Has a strong background in public relations. 

  • Strong, analytical and consultative communication skills. 

  • Good understanding of crisis communications. 

  • Be a self-starter and a team player. 

  • Strong interest and experience in the Fintech space. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. 

  • Deadline and detailed oriented.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to manage complex issues in a regulated environment.

  • Ability to work within a fast-paced results driven environment. 

  • Organisation and planning skills - Ability to multitask and plan effectively, while delivering results. 

  • A thirst for knowledge and a continual drive for personal and professional growth.
